What is the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) examination conducted by the Kerala PSC?
Kerala Administrative Service(KAS) is one of the most buzzworthy recruitment drives in Kerala. Through KAS eligible graduates will be able to start their career in the state government service at the Junior Time Scale positions and can further advance towards IAS within 8 years of service. KAS came in to force from 1st January 2018 and the first exam notification for the same published on 1st November 2019.And preliminary Exam conducted in 22 Feb 2020.
The candidates joining the KAS shall start his/her career in the State service in the Junior Time Scale Grade. The vacant posts under Kerala Administrative Service(KAS) will be divided in the ratio of 6: 5:4:3 among the Junior Time Scale, Senior Time Scale, Selection Grade Scale, and Super Time Grade Scale.
Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) opens door to class 1 state service for eligible candidates. Those who are selected will be appointed to second gazetted posts in 29 government departments including Land Revenue, Finance, State Lottery and Secretariat services (plus common category posts in every department). Public Service Commission is looking for young professionally trained qualified candidates who are able to serve as middle level managers in government service and those will be promoted to IAS later.
KAS officers will be selected in three streams. By direct recruitment, 1/3rd vacancies will be filled. 1/3rd vacancies will be filled from regular government employees. Remaining vacancies will be filled from 1st gazetted officers in government departments.
